The Golden Road to Glory: How the Best Teams Reached the Final!

The Golden Road to Glory: How the Best Teams Reached the Final!

Before the big final, there was a huge battle to see who would get to play for the trophy. In the WPL, the top team goes straight to the final, while the next two teams have to fight it out in a "knockout" match called the Eliminator (which is just like a semi-final!).

The Fast Track: RCB Zooms Ahead!

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) were so good during the regular games that they didn't even have to play a semi-final!

  • They won 6 out of 8 matches.

  • Because they finished in 1st Place, they got a "Fast Pass" straight to the Grand Final.

  • Captain Smriti Mandhana and her team got to rest and watch the other teams battle it out!

The Big Battle: Delhi Capitals vs. Gujarat Giants

Since they finished in 2nd and 3rd place, the Gujarat Giants (GG) and Delhi Capitals (DC) had to play a high-stakes match to see who would face RCB.

What happened in the Eliminator?

It was a "win or go home" game, and the Delhi Capitals played like true warriors!

  • The Bowling Attack: Delhi's bowlers were super fast and tricky. They didn't let the Gujarat batters score many easy runs.

  • The Chase: Chasing the target, Delhi’s stars Shafali Verma and Jemimah Rodrigues hit the ball all over the stadium!

  • The Result: Delhi Capitals won the game convincingly, knocking Gujarat Giants out of the tournament.

Fun Fact: This was the fourth time in a row that Delhi Capitals made it to the Final! They are the most consistent team in WPL history.

On Thursday, the Gujarat Giants took on the UP Warriorz at the Vadodara International Cricket Stadium (Kotambi). It was a must-win game for the Giants, and they delivered it perfectly. First Innings: Sophie Devine’s Calm Class UP Warriorz won the toss and decided to bowl first. At first, it seemed like a smart move as they kept taking wickets at regular intervals. However, two players stood tall for Gujarat: Sophie Devine : The "New Zealand powerhouse" played a beautiful, unbeaten knock of 50 off 42 balls* . She hit 2 fours and 3 massive sixes! Beth Mooney : The captain added a solid 38 runs , helping the team build a foundation. Thanks to a late surge from Devine, the Giants reached 153/8 in their 20 overs. For the Warriorz, Kranti Gaud was the star with the ball, taking 2 wickets for just 18 runs. Second Innings: The UP Warriorz Collapse...

India vs. NZ: Abhishek Sharma Fired Boundaries Rained!

India vs. NZ: Abhishek Sharma Fired Boundaries Rained!  The 5-match T20i series between India and New Zealand kicked off with a bang at the VCA Stadium in Jamtha ! The Toss: New Zealand Opts to Bowl The match started with New Zealand winning the toss. They chose to bowl first, hoping the pitch would help their pacers early on. For a moment, it looked like a good decision. India’s star opener, Sanju Samson , was caught early for just 10 runs. But that was the last bit of good news for the Kiwis! The Abhishek Sharma Show 💥 Once Sanju departed, Abhishek Sharma took charge. He didn't just play; he dominated! Abhishek "fired" at every New Zealand bowler, hitting boundaries all over the park. He turned the game into a highlight reel, making the crowd go wild. He wasn't alone, though. India’s middle order kept the momentum high: Hardik Pandya provided the muscle. Suryakumar Yadav played well as captain. Rinku Singh finished things off with his usual explosive style. ...
