WPL 2026: Delhi Capitals Crush Mumbai Indians

The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 just got a whole lot more exciting! Yesterday, the Delhi Capitals (DC) faced off against the defending champions, Mumbai Indians (MI), in a high-stakes battle.

In a surprising turn of events, Delhi completely dominated the game, leaving Mumbai fans shocked as their team suffered their third loss in a row.

The First Innings: Mumbai Struggles to Find Rhythm

Delhi Capitals won the toss and chose to bowl first—a decision that paid off immediately. Their star bowler, Marizanne Kapp, was absolutely unplayable! She bowled with an incredible economy, giving away only 8 runs in 4 overs and picking up a crucial wicket.

While Nat Sciver-Brunt played a brilliant lone hand with 65 runs, and Captain Harmanpreet Kaur added 41, the rest of the team couldn't find their timing. Mumbai finished their 20 overs with a total of 154/5.

The Chase: Delhi Makes It Look Easy

Chasing 155 is never simple against a team like Mumbai, but Delhi’s batters were on fire.

  • Lizelle Lee gave them a flying start, smashing 46 runs off just 28 balls.

  • Jemimah Rodrigues, the captain, then took total control. She scored a beautiful 51 not out, guiding her team to victory with an over to spare.

Because of her match-winning captain’s knock, Jemimah Rodrigues was named Player of the Match (POTM). Mumbai's Bowling Woes Even though Mumbai used seven different bowlers to try and stop the runs, nothing worked. The Delhi batters were too strong, and Mumbai’s defense crumbled under the pressure. This loss marks a difficult patch for MI, as they have now lost three consecutive matches, making their path to the playoffs much harder.

Will Mumbai be a part of playoffs with current form. Let us know in comment !
