WPL 2026: Delhi Capitals Break the RCB Winning Streak!
The Vadodara International Cricket Stadium was packed with fans expecting another RCB win, but the Delhi Capitals had other plans. In a dominant performance, DC ended RCB’s five-match winning streak with a clinical 7-wicket victory.
First Innings: RCB’s Batting Collapse
After winning the toss, Delhi Capitals decided to bowl first. It turned out to be the perfect decision. The RCB batters, who had been scoring runs for fun all season, suddenly found themselves in deep trouble.
The Lone Warrior: Captain Smriti Mandhana was the only one who really fought back, scoring a solid 38 off 34 balls.
The Sudden Slide: RCB was at a decent 62/1 at one point, but then everything fell apart. They lost their last 8 wickets for just 42 runs!
The Final Score: RCB was bundled out for a tiny total of 109 runs in 20 overs—their lowest score of the season.
The DC Bowling Stars
Delhi’s bowlers were like hunters on the prowl. They never gave the RCB batters any room to breathe.
Nandni Sharma: She was the star of the night, taking 3/26 and grabbing the Purple Cap (given to the tournament's leading wicket-taker).
Marizanne Kapp & Minnu Mani: Both were super economical and took 2 wickets each to keep the pressure high.
Second Innings: DC Cruises to Victory
Chasing 110 runs was never going to be hard for a team like Delhi. Even though they lost their openers early, they stayed calm.
Laura Wolvaardt: She played a beautiful, steady innings, staying not out on 42 runs.
Jemimah Rodrigues: The DC captain added a quick 24 to keep the scoreboard moving.
- The Finish: Marizanne Kapp finished the game in style with a boundary, reaching the target in just 15.4 overs.
Why did RCB lose?
New Zealand's famous fielding luck seems to have rubbed off on the RCB girls this time! They were sloppy in the field, dropping catches and missing chances that could have made the game closer.
