India vs. NZ: New Zealand Bounce Back with a High-Scoring Win in Vizag!
The 4th T20i of the series moved to the beautiful ACA-VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam. While India had already sealed the series 3-0, New Zealand was playing for pride—and they certainly found it!
First Innings: The Kiwi Openers Go Big
India won the toss and decided to bowl first, but the New Zealand openers had other ideas. They put on a massive 100-run partnership that set the stadium on fire.
Tim Seifert: The "Great Pillar" of their batting scored a brilliant 62 off 36 balls. He was later named Player of the Match for giving the Kiwis the perfect start.
Devon Conway: He supported Seifert with a quick 44 off 23 balls.
Daryl Mitchell: He provided the finishing touch with a destructive 39 off 18 balls*.
The Indian bowlers fought back by taking 7 wickets, with Kuldeep Yadav and Arshdeep Singh picking up two each. However, New Zealand still reached a formidable total of 215/7.
Second Innings: A Tough Night for the Indian Batters
Chasing 216 was always going to be a "mountain to climb." India’s hope dimmed early when they lost two key wickets—Abhishek Sharma for a duck and captain Suryakumar Yadav for just 8 runs.
Just when things looked dark, two players gave the fans a reason to cheer:
Rinku Singh: He fought hard for his 39 runs, trying to keep the scoreboard moving.
Shivam Dube: He played a "knock for the ages," smashing a 15-ball fifty (the 3rd fastest for India!). He ended with 65 off 23 balls, hitting 7 massive sixes.
The Heartbreaking Finish
The turning point came when Shivam Dube was out in a very unlucky way—a run-out at the non-striker's end! Once Dube departed, the Indian lower order collapsed. India was eventually bowled out for 165 in 18.4 overs.
New Zealand's bowling was clinical, led by captain Mitchell Santner (3/26) and Jacob Duffy, who not only took wickets but also grabbed a spectacular catch.
